An Oath taking and a Tale or Two

Yesterday was a good day for Imladris for it saw two more of its warders raised to the rank of the Maethor, Sil. In all the years I have served Imladris as one of its Captains only three others have attained this rank. It was good to see so many of the Warband gathered in Imlad Gelair for the ceremony to witness the Oath taking of Virthalion and Azgarzir. I had expected in time for Virthalion to take the Oath for his skills are remarkable and he been a stalwart member of the warband. When Virthalion rides into combat it is as though horse and rider are one.

Azgarzir, a man from Gondor is the surprising one, for he has driven himself harder than any instructor could in Imladris. His skills with horse and blade rival Ridarans one of the other Maethor, Sil. He has excelled as a warrior and a member of the warband, indeed Lord Elrond was pleasantly surprised when his name was offered forward as one of the candidates.

The ceremony took place in the hidden valley of Imlad Gelair where the ancient spirits are strongest and afterwards they were presented to Lord Elrond in his House  so their names could be added to the ranks of the Sil.

We later retired to the Hall of Fire where we spent many hours spinning tales and recalling the names of past warriors fallen in battle, for they shall always be remembered. For they are no longer with us in body but their spirits live on and ride with us each time we go into battle in defence of Imladris.

OOC- My thanks to those who took the time to make this day a little bit more special for those taking the Oath. Elisbeth, Tagos, Virthalion, Azgarzir, Malgelion, Galrandir, Shantel and Osilivren. Attaining such a rank within the Warband is no small measure.
