Krystic and Skrayper were directed to the Sworn Wanderers’ new base of operations on the outskirts of Bree. New base of operation…as in they had only recently finished building the house and were now working on furnishing it. Avalong was ecstatic when Krystic offered to help with the clean-up and decorating. However, the Valehaven maiden was curious about the whereabouts of her older sister Lefrinu. It was later explained that that huntress and her musical companion had been sent to Esteldin to aid the rangers there with their weaponry and armor making skills. Skrayper offered to assist them as well, while Krystic stayed behind to help with the house. In fact, she recommended hiring Pumpernickle to help tend the house while the rest of the squads were away. After she sent word to her dear hobbit friend about the position of housekeeper, the elf maiden was introduced to her squad leader Igarthel.
He came to see Avalong about one of their numbers who had not returned from Trollshaw. Taking Krystic, Linardir, Faridir, and Vebur with him, the small group made up of primarily hunters traveled swiftly past the boarder of Bree-Land and into the Lone-Lands. The days it took to travel to Trollshaw itself would challenge their tracking skills, but Igarthel knew that Adreles had spent much of his time reporting to Elrond and his sons Elladan and Elrohir; so surely they might know what happened to him. They split the night’s watch when they shared Barachen’s campsite. Faridir scouted ahead while Linardir did some hunting for the night’s meal. It grew dark before they reached the Thorenhad encampment the following day, but instead of setting up camp, Igarthel insisted that they continue on. The squad’s leader knew the risk of trolls, but he was a strong and courageous warrior, and would protect his companions with all of his might. And He proved his might when they ran into a troll who was patrolling the path. Igarthel Swiftrider swung his blade, piercing the troll’s skin and blocking his lumbering punches with his sturdy shield. It was breathtaking…and Krystic could see why her sister Lefrinu admired him so. He reminded her of Skrayper…which made her wonder what it was about Rohirrim men…and prayed that she would see him again.
Igarthel was hopeful when Elladan explained that he and Elrohir sent Adreles to Elrond in Rivendell before he received word to return to Bree. Taking a day’s rest to recuperate from their scuffle with the troll, the small group made their way to Rivendell. Faridir led them through a twisting and weaving path up and down the High Moor. He bragged about how often he traveled the hidden paths that led to and from the Last Homely House. Igarthel grew humble within the enchanting elven territory. He held a great deal of respect for the fair race, but would not fully explain why…at least not unless he were to be asked. But such tales would not be shared during this particular gathering. No, for upon their arrival the squad not only learned of what happened to their fellow Sworn Wanderer, but Krystic would also learn of the fate of the House of Valehaven.
The elf maiden was amazed to meet with Cerynitis and learn how she survived the ambush that originally started Lefrinu and Krystic’s journeys. The two cousins spoke a great deal of what Cerynitis had planned for their family and their duties towards Middle Earth. Krystic agreed to return to Lindon with her to help with the transition of leadership within the household. Meanwhile, Igarthel spoke in private with Adreles, and the elfin hunter explained why he broke from his orders to return to Bree. Though he did not explain his personal feelings for the elfin huntress, he did let Igarthel know that he was devoting his loyalties to the House of Valehaven. The squad leader wished him the best, and after a few days spent in the comforts of Elrond’s hospitality, the squad returned to Bree. Cerynitis sent word to Lefrinu to return home before she, Adreles, and Krystic made their way to Lindon.
