The Lost Brothers

SUMMARY Morielen's been missing her brothers, Alancala and Alanlassë, since the fall of Edhelion. Vingilotz fears that they may have been captured and taken to the lands of Angmar, as the Amulets they were said to bear seemed to have been cursed by vile magic. Liorae claims to have seen the Symbols of the amulets in Angmar, near an orc encampment. After a talk with Elrond, Vingilotz had confirmed that the Amulets meant no good. He was sure to have found some connection to the evils of old, but no matter, it was clear that the Symbols were of Angmar. After discussing matters with Alekz, he decided to send out scouts to investigate the little information gathered. Vingilotz and Morielen were to search the south of Angmar, while other parties search other regions. Vingilotz found an Angmarim commander of Bail Róva and interrogated him, figuring that there were once elven brothers held captive in that very fortress, but they were moved a long time ago. After facing a Wall of Dread, Vingilotz begun to ponder, if there might not be prisoners inside the walls, kept from escaping. He, Morielen, Liorae and the Kin's friend Garthalion traveled beyond in search. They then stumbled upon a library, where Vingilotz found a sealed case. Upon the seal was a sun-symbol, recognized by Morielen, and beneath the seal was a lock. After breaking the lock and examining the scroll, they found the runes upon it unreadable, but for a sun-symbol at the very end of the scroll. Vingilotz asked Glorfindel for aid, but he could give none. It was then through the help of Gandalf the Grey that made clear what the sun-symbol was: It was the symbol of the last king of Angmar, before he had fallen to darkness and changed his sign to the Iron Crown. Alekz set up scouting parties and sent them off. Quickly, Kagain was off to Goblin Town, after slaughtering many of the creatures there, he was sure to have found a hint: A ripped cloak, soaked in blood, and the word of one of the goblins that they were bringing a prisoner in to the Barrow Downs, far away from the goblin-encampment. After a long silence, Morielen received an anonymous letter with the following wording: "Brother, brother you are looking for, two are sought but one be found and proof is given by sunlit silver! A hint is given to follow: Out in war and out in field, north of Imladris, east of Angmar, a beast now bears an amulet, stolen from an elf.' She did not hesitate a moment after receiving the letter and left heading for Rivendell; she was ambushed, though, in the Trollshaws, and suffered heavy wounds, though she managed to live and pin down the orc-captain that led the attack. He bore the amulet that she recognized as one of her brothers'. Apparently he knew much of her, though didn't dare speak any answers except for one: he stole the amulet from an elf-slave. Grithalion thinks the hint pointed to Helegrond and gave word to his brother Garthalion to scout the area. While there has been no word yet of Helegrond, Morielen received another note: "Lost in Shadow lost is light, lost in madness lost is joy, lost of day and lost of night the darkness awaits but is abandoned. Joy seeks light and light seeks hope, one has freed but is naught, other is broken but is still whole. Light of home, you come to seek, you will search what death has lost or have it claim you in search's stead. One hint given, several still to come; the enemy knows the names of all. Oaths and Curses cannot be broken, so come! You know, so come!" After giving her armor to the smiths in Rivendell, Morielen picked it up a few days later, but received a note, too. Within it was a brooch, though covered in blood, and the words 'not your Oath, but of your Blood'. She came to a meeting by chance, figuring that her brothers might have been part of something larger, and she met an Elflord named Cironael of the house of Aranohtar. He was interested in her brother's missing, and vowed to aid her. After long silence and much asked and granted aid, Morielen finds another note, pinned to her sword that she had let lay upon the ground untended: 'Sun to crown, slave to pen, Blood paid thrice in elven-blood; one has returned to the masters; one is still in flight; one shall wander the starless sky; one shall hide in brightest day. Gold has met iron and iron will meet blood.' The Rangers decided it leads probably to Angmar - and preparations were made to scout. An elf was found, lost and maddened; and he would not return. Then rumour spoke of a ghost, and the ghost's end by the hands of the Angmarim. A host was prepared, and Angmar was assaulted by the formed alliance. The captive was retrieved, and indeed, it was one of the brothers: Alanlassë, named Lindelemacilionn in Imladris. Some time after, rumors of an elven captive held in Annuminas were spread, and scouting the land, the rumors were proven true. Again a host was gathered, and after fierce battle, they found an the captive had freed himself and sought haven at the Dunedain camp; yet he would not speak. Alanlassë recognized the elf as his brother, and swift they returned to Imladris. The brothers recovered from their torture and wounds. And at last, Morielen had her family again.
