Of Treasure and Honour - Part 1

On behalf of Bound by Ale and Coin, I am proud to announce the first official event since our creation in September. The first event planned will take place in Forochel, and depending on its succes, it will hopefully kick off a string of quests and journeys to far-off lands, all with a mutual goal - to gain wealth! Unfortunately, we will be restricting the event's roster to those who are in the kinship, or who have alts within our ranks.Though it's still not too late to join!

Visit http://laurelinarchives.org/node/11881 for more information and details on how to sign up.

Date:
April 12th, 2013 to April 17th, 2013
Time:
The event is scheduled to start at 19.00 GMT (13.00 server time), though if the full group is present and ready we will begin as soon as possible.
Location:
The group will set off from Bree with their final destination being Forochel.

Event details:

In the year 1973 TA at the depression of the Northern Kingdom, it is said that Arvedui, the last king, sent his final followers to hide away the final treasures of Arnor before his departure into the Ice-Bay. Over a millennium later,  a group of hopeful adventurers coordinate a journey to the treachorous reaches of Forochel with intentions of recovering what has been lost, should they ever reach it. Will they ever find it?

OOC details:

The event is scheduled to span across five days, the bulk of which will be in Forochel. We plan on roleplaying the entire journey to Forochel, but not the full return journey due to timing issues. If there is enough interest, a return journey to Bree can of course be organised. As RP tends to vary, the event is likely to last longer than intended, and we suggest that this is an expected prolonging for all of the members partaking in the event. If you wish to drop out at any point, however, we kindly ask that you inform us ahead of time and give an in character (IC) reason for leaving.

We understand that many of you will not be able to make every single day of the event. For this, we also ask that an IC reason is given to one of the officers partaking in the event.

All encounters will be dealt with through a /roll action. Any combat encounters with the environment are more than welcome along the trip, but please, alert the rest of the group that you are in danger through an emote, describing the hostile's approach so we can have a better idea of how to react to the encounter.

A few things to keep in mind for the trip itself, both in character and out of character, is that Forochel is a frozen country, very similar to our world's Antarctica where it is cold year-round. This being said, it should be known that your characters will be caught several times in cold, treachorous conditions and outfits should be planned ahead of time for both IC and OOC convenience. Also ensure that you roleplay through the weather. No matter how strong your character is, Forochel's weather is said to have struck men dead in their sleep.

In addition to this, other than where noted, the presence of mobs and NPCs is going to be removed for this event due to roleplay restrictions. The journey will take much longer than five days in character, and with able horses travelling at 50 miles a day, it would take at least six days each way. To avoid this issue, we suggest that each night that we roleplay, we instead count as three to four days in character. We will also be walking for a large portion of the trip, which will also consume more time. To be safe and realistic, we suggest that the minimum amount of time we will be away in character is one month.

Lastly, I would like to give a huge thanks to Jarkil, Rinni and Guvadan for their influence on the event and also for hosting an event last summer which was so spectacular, that it has spawned a 'sequel'. Also, a special thanks to my friends and fellow officers who have helped me plan and schedule the event.
