Bluecrag Goblins Strike Against Noglond!

((Any who frequent the road past Noglond will notice the results of recent Goblin depredations in the area. The damage is described below.)) As the traveller approaches Noglond from the west, his nostrils are assaulted by the mixed odors of burnt wood and decaying meat. Near the road, and occasionally on it, lie the corpses of recently slain animals, lynx, bears, and sundry birds, animals that were wantonly slain and thrown down on the road to rot. If the traveller should venture north of the road, he would discover the blackened branches of scorched trees, and many trees also that are obviously dead, their fire-blackened trunks bearing witness to the conflagration that recently raged here. If he should venture even as far as Hunter's Notch, he should find a multitude of dead bears, their fur burnt off and their skins badly damaged where they were trapped amid the rocks and trees. The tracks of the arsonist have long since been obscured, though the dwarves of Noglond do know somewhat of what happened... Any who visit Noglond itself will find the signs of a recent fire. Several guards carry burns and scars that look like those left by broken glass. One is not wearing his helmet, as it was badly dented by a good-sized stone which he now keeps in his quarters, a memento of the one time he was caught by surprise. Another is missing, sent back to Thorin's Hall with an injured leg, having fallen while fighting the forest fire as it drew near to the bridge. It was started, they say, by goblins out of Orodrost, who vanished when the guards appeared to challenge them. But the guards have not yet examined the bridge across the river that flows past Noglond, so the trap layed there still awaits its victim... Vines run across the bridge at ankle-height, attached by devious means to the braziers that light the bridge, so that any who trip on them should shortly be entangled in brightly burning vines. Doubtless, this also is the doing of the accursed goblins. Whither they disappeared, or how many they were, is unknown to the guards of Noglond. Some few pursued the goblins as they fled, but never returned to the outpost. As they fled north, into forest that burned soon after, tracing their tracks would be a difficult endeavor, but if any should succeed, they would find badly burned and disfigured dwarf corpses outside an old dwarven structure, one which has been locked tight and sealed by the passage of time.
