((A letter sent to the kinship house of The Sworn Wanderers))
Suilad, mellon nin.
I write to give you all word on my travels. As you know I left Bree several months ago, and I have seen many lands since. I spent much time in the beautiful Imladris, truly a haven of tranquility in these troubled times. I was delighted to learn that Lord Elrond is active in the fight against the shadows in Mirkwood, he has sent parts of his own forces to help the cause there! The last weeks I have spent in Hollin, making common cause with some outposts of decency, elven camps that bravely fights against the shadows here.
I am now preparing to set out on the boldest part of my journey - to travel beneath the mountain to emerge on the other side, to resurface in the glorious Rhovanion. I must admit this part of the journey bothers me, I am not delighted at the thought of spending so many nights under ceilings of rocks, far from the rays of the sun. I travel with a band of dwarves who are on their own quest in this old stone kingdom, but still I fear I shall feel quite alone without any people of my kind to confide in.
The state of Moria is uncertain. Though from reports it seems that it is the only viable way to get to the other side, so it is the path I must tread. If I do not see the sun again, I wish to give you all my thanks and my love. Still I wish, and trust, that we shall meet again, in better times.
