The big day is finally here! Mam and Dad cooked a great, big breakfast full of all of me favourites (including those scrumptiously tasty cheese and mushroom muffins Grammy would make when she came to visit). I already have a basket full of goodies, enough for the road and for second breakfast. Aconite tells me that there’s a tavern right over the Brandywine Bridge that serves one of the best beers in the farthing. I tell him I didn’t know rating beers of the Shire was part of a bounder’s duty! Oh, I’m too clever for my own good, I don’t know how they’ll live without me!
I’m excited to start the trip, but secretly, I’m a tad scared as well. I’d never admit it, ‘speshly not to those butt brain brothers of mine. But, it’s a long road and I don’t know a thing about them Shire customs or fashions or tastes. What if they don’t know about cheese and mushroom muffins? What if their biscuits are bland? How do they prepare their chicken? What about the fashions? I hope my outfit doesn’t seem provincial or queer. I think Mam knows I’m worried, or maybe she’s worried about sending me away since she looks right true sent’mental, already promisin’ a visit in a few span days.
Ay! Eranthis will be ready to leave soon so I should stop. Going to say goodbye to Woolyboo and all of me favourite places before we go. I hope Auntie Marlberry is nice.
