Firnstayn's Dour Winter
Nigh the Withered Heath, north of the Erebor lay Firnstayn. It was no city of great valour such as the Westmen or the Horselords from the plains had risen them. Firnstayn was hardly hundred souls strong, but each of these souls were as hardy and dour as the Winter that ruled their lands for most of the year.
It is said that these Northmen resemble the traits of the Men of the West very much; they were tall, fair-haired and grim and mighty of hand - but they were Middlemen and were not as long lived.
Skjalddís was born there and ever since had her family been in Firnstayn, back to the day of its foundation.
