Journal Entry- The Author's Preface
I have escaped the hammer-handed fists of trolls with jewels fit for a king's plunder. I have gambled, winning untold fortunes and in one foul swoop lost everything. Before the age many boys learn to wield a sword I had bedded a Morroval and regrettably lived to remember it. I have sacrificed all to protect the honor of lesser men fortunate enough to be born into nobility and have executed the one woman I cared most for in this world to protect those too weak to defend themselves.
I am Duramarth the fourth of my name. Master of Weapons, Defender of the Southern Kingdom and Silent Protector of the Free Peoples of Middle Earth. Although I have an unsavory past and my methods may seem unorthodox, I am nevertheless a servant of the light and always will be.
The few who know me well enough to have had dealings with me know me as a purveyor of rare and unusual curiosities and accoutrements but most simply know of me as Prospector, a lonely aging miner who speaks softly, carries a large pickaxe and moves about relatively unnoticed.
For the safety of myself and those I care about, I would like to keep it that way.
