Calling of The West
Note: This song can be played in-game with the song that goes with The Lay of Luthien and Beren, which in turn, inspired me to create this. Nine stanzas, eight lines each, all with eight syllables. If you have heard Aegardhros play it in-game, you may share it elsewhere, freely.
I wonder when we will all go,
To distant lands away from here,
Because I'm sick of worrying,
And wondering what will happen,
These great places now seem so cursed,
Why can't you make up your mind now,
And say if you're going or not,
Simply just leaving me here.
And so did the great West call us,
With it's Blessed Lands beckoning,
We all have the calling in us,
But you and I are still now here.
And many now do go away,
To the great lands of Valinor,
And thus do leave Middle-Earth,
Leaving behind Lothlorien.
Now troubled times have come to us,
And now orcs really run astray,
Sometimes I think what's happening,
But then I remember the tales,
That now our end is upon us,
And now traitors have come to be,
Ready to stab you in the back,
And now Celondim is hopeless,
There are so many who can fight,
Yet hardly any face this blight.
And everyone just stands around,
Why must we all be so idle?
Grab a blade, and leave Imladris,
Now that we're all against a foe,
With all the great Elven kingdoms,
Bound by a common enemy.
"Valinor sounds like a haven,
And it isn't too far away.
So come on now, and let us go",
And let's go in to the Great West,
To succumb to it's great Calling,
Is sadly inevitable.
While you go west, I will stay east.
And try to find some precious peace.
Let's just all unite together,
Under a great big elven flag.
Let's just stay and hold our good ground,
Or march out towards to Darkness,
Sauron he is, and dark he is,
He sent out his dark Black Riders,
So let's answer their evil call,
And show them what Mirkwood can do.
Edhelion was but a sign,
Of the taint that will come to pass,
And there is nothing we can do,
So let's make one more visit then,
And pack up all our possessions,
Before preparing the horses,
And then we shall start our riding,
And leave behind our good home-land.
This path is a one-way thing,
Upon this horse, I do see all,
And now we ride for distant coasts,
Leaving behind the Golden Wood,
So one and all should get in line,
To maybe get a peek of it,
Because it will be left behind,
The Grey Havens is now my place.
And finally I have arrived,
To the amazing Blessed Lands,
Where every elf is free to roam,
Should they even have had been stabbed,
But now we can live hand-in-hand,
Like we wanted to do before,
But now we can try this again,
And be happy eternally!
