Red journal entry # 2 - A new path

My head still hurts from the party we had yesterday. We had such a great time at that lodge. Dancing, drinking and all that, but this is not what I wish to write about in this journal. I sure was glad to see Tidhelm Icwalsteng and his lovely daugther Eaden again, both I consider good friends. The discussion I had with the old noble keeps going through my head.  He had thought of a new path that would take us to our homeland. As far as I know we all seek to go to the East Emnet. I searched hours for that old map and actually found it. If only we can find our way to the Great river, we only have to follow the river that would take us south straight to our home. No Dunland, no Isengard, no cursed elf forests or dwarven mines. This is just brilliant. Still this road has its own challenges. A summary of things to think of:

- Passing elf land beyond the lone lands the troll forests. We lost our way there before, and after nightfall we need to be very cautious.

- The mountain ridge. Will we take the high pass? At least winter has passed so it cant be as bad as last time. Tidhelm mentioned something about Beornlings or Beornmen or...  something like that, what do we now of them?

- Gladden fields. What are these fields, are they suitable for travel? I should ask around.

- The river. How to get boats? Something to think about, if we are able to make it that far, the travel south should pose no problems.

Horses, they can only take up to the foot of the mountains, but not much further I reckon. I have to discus these topics, but who will join me? My brother and Wulfreda for sure, Tidhelm as well, Eaden too? I will have to ask her, I can not think of anyone else at the moment. No word from Melowen, Ferawyn or Irwthryth so far, maybe they already made their way east. I will invite these people to talk about this during a nice dinner, and I know just the place.
