It has been such a long time since I last written. I have been preoccupied with Defenders business as of late. I was involved in a battle at Gondamon in Ered Luin, many were injured including myself. I was lucky enough to be pulled out of the fray by Zelderan just in time. I had been poisoned by a spider bite and could not walk on my right leg. I am alright now, yet I still have the scar of the bite on my arm.
Gwenbur glances at her arm at the scar, she winces. She dips her quill and continues writing.
Far was injured attempting a rescue of our friend, Halgilad, who was imprisoned by some Orcs. The rescue was successful, though Halgilad was barely alive. He is still recovering in the capable hands of his wife. I hope he shall be alright.
She sighs, dipping her quill once again.
My beloved returned to me with many injuries, he is still at home recovering. Whilst it has been unfortunate he got hurt, it has been lovely to have him home. We have spent many days together just spending time alone and walking around the neighbourhood. I have been attempting to play new tunes for him on the lute, he has been polite enough to listen. He has read to me many a time, too. It has been a pleasant time, yet I believe that shall change soon.
Gwenbur looks up from her writing. She glances around the room, then continues.
Far has been rather... edgy as of late. Throughout his recovery period, he has still trained harder than ever. I insisted he rest, but my words fell upon deaf ears. He told me he must be "prepared" at all times. Not only that rouses my suspicions. In the night I have woken to find him sat up in the bed beside me, pouring over maps, books and writing feverishly. I cannot help but wonder what is going on. His behaviour indicates to me that he will soon have to travel, but where? When he was out for his daily training, I sneaked a look at his documents. Most of them mentioned Mirkwood in some way or another. Could it be? Has he been called to aid his brethren in the Mirk-eaves? I will have to confront him about this. If it is true... my goodness. Mirkwood is a dangerous place. I will be full of worry, I will not be able to rest. However, it is his duty as a Dirgon of the Malledhrim to serve, it was only a matter of time before he was required to set foot on his homeland once again. My thoughts and my love will go with him, as always.
Gwenbur clutches "Elamplas' Gift", her rune, in her hand.
I have good friends who will support me through this, should my husband be needed in Mirkwood. Namely Elamplas, my most treasured friend. He has been there for me ever since I set foot in Bree-land. Our friendship is strong, despite our races. He is an honourable and proud one of the Eldar - highly skilled with a blade. He hails from Imladris, where he was Captain of the Guard. It has been a pleasure that he recently joined the Defender's ranks. I am proud and thrilled to call him not only best friend, but battle brother too.
Speaking of friends, I have not seen Ferabor in quite some time. I ought to track him down so we can catch up on news. The last I heard, he is to be wedded. I am excited for him as he deserves the love and happiness a wife can give him.
Yes. I am most fortunate in life. I am happily married to the most alluring and wonderful Elf in Middle-Earth, I have a beautiful home, loving parents and many friends around me. Life is good, very good.
