The Book of the Twelve - Page 4 - The Story of Creation

The world was here long before the memory long before beast and long before dwarf, elf, hobbit and man. It was Aelor who created the elves first in the image of all the gods, except Enondus as he intended for them to serve the gods as their firstborn in Middle Earth and old age would hinder their strength, however it was promised that the elves dying in battle would go serve Enondus in the underworld and the halls of the Dead.

Then was created the dwarves to be the builders, tinkers in honour of Baenor, Aelor's brother, however the gods found it unfair. Baenor was asked to choose two other gods be the inspiration for Aelor's creation. First was chosen Tuvnos, the warrior to give the dwarves the strength and bravery to let them ever fight on. And second was chosen Enondus, who had been left out of the first creation, Aelor made the dwarves long lived due to this, but still mortal in honour of both the blessings of life and death.

Then were created the race of man. Opposed to the other creations, man were not created in the image of any of the gods, but they were given understanding of all the gods and had to choose their own way, no man being able to encompassing all the traits of the gods and all differentiated, hence the difference between men.

Seeing all the war in Middle Earth, Aelor decided to create a fourth people, these were men as well, but smaller, they would be understanding of all the traits, but Aelor removed Tuvnos and made Nayroceth the patron of this people, with their lack of lust for war and their complacency to eat and drink, this people grew shorter than the average man, but still lived closely with them, the Hobbits had been born, peaceful and naturally born content. They are born without evil thoughts and sin and they would rarely sin except for gluttony and hedonism.

This held one part of the world virtually untouched by warfare and peace could ensue from here. None should ever conquer the little people as they had no desire to fight wars
