Ending

Not even bothering to slide off Lucky's back as she pulled his reins to a halt, just letting the reins go and sitting there on his back, staring into nothingness.
Finding herself thinking back as to where it all started. Of course, as with so many others in Bree, it had all started at the Pony.
' She had noticed the man at one of the tables, his long dark hair that flowed to his shoulders,  was just as dark as his eyes. She had probably stared at him, finding him incredibly handsome. Even though he had never noticed, always being occupied with reading papers that were scattered in front of him on the old wooden table, where he was sitting in the dim light of the tavern, or with his many friends, drinking and laughing.'

' Later she had come to know that he was one of the sell swords in the same company she herself had been employed in and suddenly she had found herself spending time with him and the others. She had looked at him in secret, hoping he wouldn't notice, even though one part of her wanted him to notice her, and that was exactly what had happened. He did notice her and had asked her if she would accompany him for a walk. She had accepted and had that evening found him to have both a funny and a serious side, and not to mention, being a true gentleman.
The walks became frequent and they had talked and talked, sharing secrets no one else knew, talking about everything under the sun, growing closer and closer each day.'

Smiling at this memory as she looked down at Lucky who was peacefully grazing , nibbling up a tasty flower here and there, not seeming bothered at all about having her still sitting in the saddle, just moving slowly in his search for the greenest straws of grass'

' Pulled back into her memories once more, remembering how their life together had begun. She had moved to him, glad that they finally didn't have to steal away to meet, being able to spend every waking moment together.
How this had changed lately. The smiles and laughter between them had turned into frowns and angry words.Accusations thrown back and forth.Maybe both had been right, or maybe neither of them at all.'

' She had come to the realization that she no longer knew who he was.Not the man she had met, that she was sure of.The man she had met had simply loved her for what she was, just as she had loved him in the same way.
Now, he had turned demanding, angry and jealous of the company she kept, she no longer recognized him.Maybe it was her fault, maybe she provoked it.
Long had she thought about it, and in the light of recent events she had been force to take the step.
She had done as he asked her and had followed him out to the fields outside of Bree.Knowing that he had wanted to save their relationship,  she knew that there was nothing left to save, so she had ended it.Where she had felt relief, she had seen the light in his eyes go out.'

The memory of his eyes in that moment made her lean forward over Lucky's soft neck, crying into his mane, desperately clinging onto him.Sobbing until there were no more tears, until her eyes dried and she was exhausted.
Drawing a deep breath she sat straight up on the horse once again, looking out over the blooming fields for a moment before she collected the reins and turned Lucky around, steering him back into Bree, knowing there was a time for everything.Their time had ended, hers had begun.
