I was pleased to hear from this ' Lady Hughes ' only days after my massager arrived at her manor. News to me having found out it was reduced to mere rumble after an attack by Knight Sarrell. Another surprising aspect was Lady Hughes agreed to meet with me at my manor.
Her letter did come across as a threat, informing me if I attempted anything to harm her she would do so in kind. I find it rather amusing that a mere Man noble dares to threaten me and informed my guards that they are more than free to enjoy cutting her and her entire escort down should anything arise.
Yet I also had my guards ready to give her a royal welcoming on Captain Karrda's signal, I trust him mostly to assess such situations of hostility. To her own luck, Captain Karrda gave her a royal welcoming into my manor and escorted her to my sturdy where I awaited her.
Upon entering my sturdy she carried herself well in my presence and acted with conduct most fitting to one of nobility and status. She openly refused to sit at first before I deemed she should do well to heed me and the information I carry.
At first I offered her the finest of wine as refreshments over her long trip to the lands of my kin. She refused gracefully and I moved onwards towards the business side of things. After informing her most of the information I process to my knowledge in regards to this war that is about to abrupt.
She had become very emotional at this, in fact she was most angry, rising from her seat and cursing the names of Knight Sarrell among other names I deem not worthy to note down in my dairy. For reason that is clouded within my mind, I had offered her words of comfort to set her mind at ease. Why? Why did I say such? This woman is no friend of mine yet I would offer her words of comfort... Perhaps it was most unfitting for a noble to act in such manner and I done so in order to continue? I will never know this answer.
After setting her down we continued in our debate about which side and why I would tell her much. I myself am struggling to understand why I informed her of all this information before recapping my thoughts previous. Maybe she holds the key to the hope I wait in search for? Maybe this woman by the name of ' Lady Hughes ' can make this Dwarf whom has lingered within his halls emerge from it's depths and into the sunlight.
I agreed to backup her cause and fight against my former companion of old, Knight Sarrell. The drums of war echo through out this hall that I call home. My guards preparing wagons and carrying my goods and treasures to load up. Captain Karrda is smiling, something I have not seen such my old days when we used to venture together and become drowned in the blood of our enemies.
He told me ' I look forward to this, my master. '. Those very words he spoke during our trade war with another merchant whom dared to steal my contacts from under my beard. I still keep his head to this day locked within one of my crates within the vaults as a reminder to those who even dare to consider me an enemy.
