Alyl - A Brief History

Alyl lived with her parents in Archet until she was 6, though not in a typical well-to-do household. Her father was a reckless drinker and her mother cared little for the well-being of her daughter. Alyl was exposed to physical and emotional abuse since she was able to walk as well as being left home alone for days at a time and suffered constant malnutrition. She hated her parents from day one, as they disliked her - always scratching a biting when she was angry. She left several satisfying scars on both.

Then the bringands came. At the time, of course, Alyl's father was up to his eyes in ale and whiskey at the Mad Badger inn. Her mother was on the streets in her usual dark garb, but Alyl, at just 6, had been sent on an errand to Staddle just a day before and missed the brigands by a further 2 days. The inn was burnt down as Alyl's father was dozing inside and her mother was shot in the arm and stabbed thrice in the back. Both perished.

There was little love lost from Alyl when she returned. She turned straight to the streets, for she had no where else to go. After a few weeks of scratching up what little food and money was given to her after the attack, she met a boy named Carnven. Carnven was an expert pick-pocket and taught all she knows about stealing from those who have too much to spare. Over the years they spent escaping the town Watch and hiding in caves and abandoned farms, they developed a strong brother-sister relationship which still survives today.

Alyl used her skills and love for thieving to join with a kin, the House of the Crimson Sun where she has found more use for her so-called 'art'.
