Entry 5: On Thievery and Mischief

Being slightly more than a week since the last entry, in which I reconnected ties with Carlsson. In the time since, I have reconnected with some others in the organization.

About a week ago I was approached by a man of the Bandits from the North. I can't say I knew his name, though I recognized him as a man previously introduced to me as 'Wolf' some moons ago - and he was, at the time, the third other man in the organization that I had met in person (the other two being Carlsson and Celthil. I must say I haven't seen Celthil in a very long time). Anyways, he offered me a drink and flipped a coin at me, telling me to go buy one. I couldn't catch the coin, of course, since I don't necessarily have hands. This, I think, sparked some kind of curiosity in him that made me uncomfortable. He asked me what had happened, and I told him I would tell him if he told me his real name. He, naturally, left.

But that is not the purpose of this entry! I will begin by talking of Carlsson's robberies. He told me he had stolen a ring from a woman, I guess the same ring that the man that called himself 'Alan' from last week had desired. Speaking of 'Alan', I think I put two and two together where the Watchers cannot. Carlsson was in the act of robbing that girl... Priya, the Watchers notice said... when he was attacked by 'Alan'. A strange business, all that. And to the reader, yes I do read the notices put in place by the Watchers. You have to know what is happening around your town, right?

It seems that Carlsson's failed robbery on this Priya set off a string of failures. Earlier today I stumbled upon Carlsson and two others of the organization. One was that fellow that had offered me ale (which I took) some time ago, and the other was someone I had never seen. He introduced himself as Duilan, and I must say I have grown to like the man. They were planning a robbery, though they needed a target. Carlsson sent Duilan and I in to lure someone out.

So we went in and we had no idea who to rob. We went into the back rooms, checking for someone and everything. At last I had given up, for the crowd was too thick and the options were not ideal. Duilan approached two women and began trying to sell them some skin enhancing potion. At first I thought it a fruitless endeavor, but as I thought I came up with the idea of pity pay. Having no hands, it is easy for me. I went up and tried to get Duilan to stop talking, but he simply would not! I don't think the women quite paid attention to my proposal, and I think they got frustrated and just gave us a silver coin to be gone. Needless to say, we left.

We went to find Carlsson and the other fellow, and it seemed like they had no better luck. They seemed to be trying to pin down a paranoid dwarf, who would keep his distance no matter how hard they tried. Eventually they gave up, and we went back north. I found out this Duilan fellow was an alchemist, and that he wants to conduct experiments in our house. I proposed he gets the upstairs room so that we don't have to smell anything, but Carlsson insists he work close to the exit in case of fire. I just hope he doesn't spill anything on my books.

In any case, I'd like to end on a different note than that. As a general statement, about the entire organization, I will denounce it on the grounds that it, if it continues on it's path as it is now, is not bound for greatness. We must stoop above simple thievery and mischief and make a name for ourselves! Make the lands of Bree fear the name of the Bandits from the North, and their illustrious leader Carlsson!
