Amdirondi was traveling south of Combe and making his way to the Town of Bree for the first time he decided to camp. It did not take him long to fix the fire and set the site up and when he finished he realized he wanted to get something to eat. So adjusting his robes and grabbing his staff he decided to venture out for some meat. Knowing he wasn’t much of a hunter and was not feeling like having fish Amdi thought he would try his skills at hunting.
About twenty minutes out away from his camp he stopped in his tracks. He could hear what sounded like a pack of wolves. A small pack but yet a pack. The he could hear the sound of a youthful but small brown bear. The barks and growls from the wolves seemed to outnumber the bear cry. With caution and staff in hand Amdi made his way to the sounds of what seemed like a cry from help from the bear. He made his way into a small valley of trees and brush. Slowly and quietly he moved some leafy branches to look and he found his ears were right. He looked carfully into the darkness and could see about 4 wolves around a small bear cub which was hugging against the tree. The wolves looked ready to attack as the bear cried in terror. Amdi had such a heart for nature’s beasts and knew at times they could be so cruel.
With care Amdi stepped out from the shadows and raised his hands and sent out burning embers to the wolves followed by a cracked earth. That burns and the shacking of the ground seemed more than enough to kill one of the wolves and sent the other 3 scattering. When the smoke cleared Amdi looked around to find only the bear still against the tree in fear. It was truly small and under its normal weight from what he knew of Bears.
Amdi slowly walked over and saw that the bear was seriously wounded and still bleeding. Amdi removed his cape and bent down slowly as to not startle the bear any more than it already was. He took his cloak and covered the wound and with extreme care Amdi hoisted the bear up into his arms. At that time he was really thankful at how small the poor cub was. Headed back to come and treated the wounds and fed the bear. From that point on Amdi and his brown bear friend Roland travels together. Roland has become such a loyal companion to Amdi and because of that Amdi’s studies has been about animals and chooses to learn more about any of nature’s beasts.
