After hearing about the rumors of wargs in Chetwood, i was not going to wait too long to investigate this threat. First of all, i returned to the Combe and Wattle Inn to say the local inn-keeper there that i was probably not going to return before nightfall. I do not know how much is about this threat by the local villagers, but i found it wise to not tell it everywhere. So i did not say anything to her about the wargs, even if she was already informed about that. The next thing i did was going to gather some food. i knew that i needed to be provided if i was going to stay for a longer while in chetwood for investigation. I managed to buy some bacon, cheese, apples and bread withthe last coins i had. Unfortunately there weren't any beverages. I could not go into the wilderness without anything to drink. I also wet my blade, for i did not know what i was going to encounter. Before i was completely ready, i visited my dear horse Stormwind in the stables. I gave him one of my apples and made him the promise to come back. (you never know what can happen.) After doing that, i left Combe. Though i did not go to Chetwood. I first made my way to the Staddle-lake were i could fill my bottle with water. when i was there, i also caught some fish. It took a completely day to be prepared, so i had diner by the lake there. Obviously outside of the forest were no brigands or wargs and i decided to make a campfire. Finally i slept by the warmth of my campfire, which kept beasts far away.
The next day, i moved on in the direction of Chetwood now. For that, i passed the lumber camp of Combe. Just like the day before, i did not say anything about the wargs. I entered the wood, but after some time, i realized that if there were indeed brigands in this forest as well, I should stay off the road. With that, i long and intensive Journey began. I looked with attention before and around me. I investigated the soil for any tracks.
The end of the day was quickly approaching and suddenly i found very large tracks. I already found many tracks of wolves, boars, foxes, deer and rabbits. But these tracks were different. they weren't of humans either. i could not recognize them, but the beast was apparently four-legged and it looked like the tracks of a wolf. Though the claws were very much visible.
The night fell and i doubted to make a campfire. In the forest could fire easily be made, but fire could be easily set into wood and it could draw the attention of eventual brigands. But i was very concerned about the tracks I saw and i concluded that these could only be of a warg. (I wasn't't familiar with warg-tracks because I've never seen one in my life. it's normally quiet in the environment of Bree.) So i made a fire because i wanted to keep the beast away. While eating bread with cheese, i was thinking about the day. I succeeded in many things, since there are other concerns in the area as well. But the tales about wargs seems to be true and because of the tracks, i got only more questions and i became very worried. I was now apprehensive as well. With all this thoughts in my mind, i decided that even with that what i did today, this was a very unsuccessful day. I am now writing this all in my diary and i have to be quickly. Tomorrow, i will try to get to know more...unfortunalely...I really hoped that these tales were not true, but they are.
