"Well gentlemen, I won this one. And that one...and the one before that." Crissa said, with a tremendous grin. She pulled the pile of coins, that had accumulated in the centre of the table, towards her.
One of the six men surrounding the table slammed his fist on to the wooden table and exclaimed. "This isn't right! She's won every single one o'em!" Crissa simply chuckled, lazily lounging in the chair at the head of the table and counting out the coins.
"I'm just too good at cards, kitten. Another game?" She asks, a smirk tugging at her pouty lips. Several of the men grumbled amongst themselves as Crissa glanced over to the man on her left and winked. His name was Lucky and he had accompanied her this evening. She didn't consider him a friend, however she didn't think of him as an enemy either.
It was around five minutes into a new game and, of course, Crissa was winning. She laughed loudly, casting the cards down onto the table in front of her. "Too easy!" She declared, a glint in her eye. "Hang on...she's cheatin'!" One of the burly fellows exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at Crissa.
"Whatever do you mean, kitten?' She asked, a brow raised as she leaned forward slightly.
"You've got an extra card! You're addin' 'em in!"
"What!? No!" She said, wafting the accusation away with a gesture of her hand.
The man looked away slowly to glance at his comrades, a growing tension was causing the air to become thick.
"We don't take kindly to cheaters, dear..." The man said with an oily voice, Crissa gathered rest of her newly obtained coins, pocketing the lot...or where ever she could fit them. She tried to discreetly glance over at Lucky whom managed to catch her eye. Now she attempted a miniscule nod, which he also caught onto. This was the signal to go...right now.
"Well, it's been awfully good to...er...play cards with you all. But myself and my companion will be taking are leave now. If you'll excuse us...!" Crissa and Lucky rose from their seats but so did the men, all in unison. Oh...damn.
"Leaving now, eh? Now that your pockets are full? Dirty thief and cheat! But I'm afraid I can't let you leave..." Crissa coughed awkwardly and made her way towards the door, followed by Lucky. However, upon reaching the door one of the men moved over to the door, blocking the only escape route.
It happened in one swift blur - all of the men had closed in on Lucky and Crissa, who were both unarmed. Crissa could only do what she could do best - kick, punch, tackle, scratch and bite...you know, general "self defence".
The commotion was incredible, narrowing down to the last fellow who was presumably the ring leader. Damn, he was big. "Crissa! Catch!' Lucky shouted, tossing a bottle towards her. She caught the bottle, examining it swiftly and noticing that it was brandy. She drained the bottle and then swung it around to collide it with the man's head. There was a moment was stunned silence until the man fell flat on his face with a dull thud. Lucky was a bloody life-saver!
"C'mon...let's get out of here before someone discovers the mess..." Crissa wiped her bloody nose, reaching down to pick up a half empty bottle of brandy that had rolled across the floor in the hasty movement.
