Dear Mum,
I am heading south, under circumstances I cannot fully divulge in writing. All I can tell you is that I will not be alone, Dirhael is coming with me, and that a Shadow has fallen over the South. If you pester Father, he might be able to tell you more, depending on his orders.
There is little time left for me to write as I, well we, are departing at dawn tomorrow. I do not know what awaits us in the South, but I do know that I will come home. I promise.
