Prologue - Chapter 2 - Voice in the darkness

Darkness, silent utmost darkness was all that is left, a shallow breathing was only thing it could be heard for hours, or maybe days. She would move and roll to a side tired unable to stand up and walk, starved and thirsty. How many days passed or was it weeks? She didn't know, she didn't know. Her pillow was a bag under her head and worn fathers cloak was her cover, she didn't get up much, saving strength or prolonging her suffering. Since last drop of oil was spent on last flicker of flame and light, she was in dark.

- How long until I die? - she said out loud to the silence of old Cardolan grave-city.

- Soon! - a silence replied and turned to a snicker and grim laughter. But..was she who laughed? Or someone else?

Breathing, drops of water in distance, maddeningly repeatable. She covers her eyes that saw only eternal blackness and wanders off in thoughts where sun was shining upon meadow near Halecatch lake, her hand was going through his hair while he would look to her from above with undivided devotion.

- I love you, Briannon. - Tindam said as his shy nature broke over feelings that came over him.

Briannon cupped his cheek and leaned down to kiss him, but then all of sudden there was not him, it was Taergor and he was holding her pinned to old straw bed in its brigands den. Her arms began to hurt from his grasp cold and chilling as iron. Taergor's face closed to hers and he whispered with haunting and strange voice.

- Thy life is ours -

She felt weakness and pain so real and tried to wake up with last resort of her strength, pushing off the dream and pain.

As she opened her eyes she saw a glittering shape of a face, here but not here, hallow eyes watched her and held her down with bone hands. She screams but there was no voice in her  mouth! No strength in her bones and muscles as apparition of barrows comes to claim her life also.

It was not a dream, her fear broke her but will for life sprouted trough and she let out a wild scream filled with fear and terror.

- Tindam! - she shouted in despair as wight clutched his arms around her, breaking her will and body. All she could see was hollow eyes and crown of pale blue gold.

And then darkness took her.
