Father-name: 'Orniel' (orn + iel, 'tree-daughter') Mother-name: 'Valarwen' (val + ar + wen, 'powerful noble maiden')    Born to Belegorn, a metalworker and marchwarden, and Tathardis, a tailor, Orniel Valarwen has far more in common with her father than her mother. Despite Tathardis' insistence on an a grand-sounding name, a good marriage, and a high-ranking position, she has so far only managed to effect the first of these. Belegorn takes all this in his stride, but it has more than once been a source of consternation for Valarwen herself. For most of her 600 years she was content to live simply in a low-level position in the marchwardenry, under the stern tutelage of Tasariel.    However, this was not to last... Rumours of the spreading shadow began to trouble her heart, and she felt that she could not in good conscience remain in the safety of Lothlorien when dark creatures were once more stalking the lands. Setting forth with Naromaica, another marchwarden, she left the Golden Wood behind and crossed the mountains...    Her home is now in the valleys of Ered Luin, in the company of dear friends - though she has not been seen there for some time.
