Report: The Death of a Stone Quarter Bandit

Time: Late Afternoon

Location: Beggar’s Alley

Suspect: Robert Brockenridge, one of the three wanted men known as the Stone Quarter Bandits

It was late afternoon when Captain Rhyva Redwood and myself, Officer Corrben Fenflower, were making another patrol of the Stone Quarter, specifically Beggar’s Alley. We heard raised voices and came upon the scene of a hooded man armed with a shield and hammer holding up a young woman and a girl. I called out to him to step away and lay down his arms, Captain Redwood drawing her crossbow and sighting the suspect.

The man refused and I drew my sword, again, telling him to lay down his arms. The girl and the young woman fled to safety as he was distracted. He continued to defy orders and finally raised his hammer. A fight ensued, Captain Redwood’s bolt hit his shield and she came to back me up with her sword. Officer Mandic arrived with a civilian in tow, a foreign woman with a spear. They stayed back as we had the man cornered. I hit the man but he caught it, dropping his hammer and injuring his hand through his chainmail. Captain Redwood struck the first blood, hitting his chest and then I struck his shoulder with my blade. We asked him then to give up that he was under arrest.

It was then the man pulled a smaller blade and attempted to stab himself in the chest, much to our surprise. He proclaimed he would not be taken alive and I tried to stop him, rushing at his injured shoulder to knock him off balance so he could not stab himself. Unfortunately, he fell and landed directly on the blade, stabbing himself between his ribs. He died at the scene.

I accompanied the young woman, named Muirenn Brown and the child, a girl of around 6 or 7 named Narchith. The girl is a resident of the Alley and claims to have an adoptive father named Aeoric but he was no where around. She said he would look for her at the Pony so we proceeded there as Officer Mandic carried the body back to the jail with Captain Redwood.

The body is that of Robert Brockenridge, the suspected Stone Quarter bandit, a man wanted for the crimes of assault and robbery.
