Upon the escape from jail of the as of yet unnamed female suspect wanted for the deaths of no less than five of Bree's jail guards myself, Constable Danwick Hale rode out from Bree through the Combe Gate in hopes of picking up said suspect's trail. This sent me to the village of Staddle where several concerned local hobbits were able to point me along the east road, where the suspect was last seen heading. I found myself in the Forsaken Inn on the edge of the Lone-Lands, where I attempted to eavesdrop on the woman who was currently inside on of the rooms within the inn. I however had a bail out of that approach when a male figure was exiting the same room in my direction (possibly an accomplice to the current suspect?)
With all this I had no choice but to exit the building lest I blow my cover, it was then that the woman emerged from the building and made a run for the stables. I did the same, leading to a horseback pursuit around the outskirts of the midgewater marsh. Despite my best efforts to catch her she made it eventually to the edge of the Chetwood where she darted inside an ancient ruin in the area inhabited by the bandit association known as the Blackwolds (with whom this woman appeared to be in cooperation with). I followed her up the rest of the way on foot until eventually I was stopped at the front gate by two brigands, both male and armed with clubs, one of them spiked. I had no choice to defend myself as their intent was clearly to kill me, the first I knocked off his feet and sent running, the other left me with no choice to but to kill him by stabbing him through the chest with my sword, this being the first time I've been forced to kill in the line of duty (or at all for that matter).
Once snide the ruins I found the woman dismounted and with a large group of Blackwolds at her side, I believe I recognized an oddly clothed man with a bow atop the ruins who bore a resemblance to the man in the Forsaken Inn from before. All this meant I was outnumbered at least two or even three to one with a huge disadvantage, so I pulled out of the area as fighting everyone there was a death sentence. I was fortunate that Nehemiah bandits held back from attacking me on the retreat, I can't say what provide this sudden change of behavior, but it certainly saved my life that day. I rode away from the ruins, unscathed, but my pride a little worse for wear. I do however remember vividly the exact ruin this took place in and I recommend we immediately assemble a larger force of watchers to take on the Blackwolds inside, I recommend capturing their leader for further interrogation. It is doubtless the suspect and her apparent accomplice have moved on by now but with any luck the trail will not have gone cold once we reach the ruins.
Signed- Constable Danwick Hale
