Dearest Father,
I hope this letter finds you well and healthy as when you set off. Do not worry, for Miss Charlotte and I are both wanting in nothing except your quick return home. Life in town is nothing short of exciting and I shall have a good many stories to tell you when you come home.
I knew a letter from the house would only worry you, so I hadn't written. Yet, I now have a small request to make of you, Father. There has been news as of late about brigand activity near the town...not so close yet that you need to worry about us or the property...but enough that the Bree Watch is keeping an eye on them. Furthermore, a Bree Defense Militia has been set up to push back against their numbers. I spoke recently with a Mister Billium who leads these men and he is in need of weapons and shields. I know you never trade in such things, but I wondered if you might make an exception as it concerns the safety of our beloved town. Your generosity in this matter would go a long way in protecting all of the townsfolk. I know it is a rather sudden request, but if you could find as close as you can to the weapons for two hundred men, Mister Billium said he would be grateful.
If this doesn't quite convince you Father, though I think it will, I have heard tell that brigands roam the West Road, which would greatly impede your spring trading. It is not only in the best interest of our town, but also your business, for you to help the Defense in clearing the area of these brigands.
Oh, I have forgotten another request I wished to make. I know you now must think your darling daughter very spoiled for making so many requests of her father. In thinking of this coming Yule season, I hoped that you would bring back some children's toys - sturdy and well-made ones that do not break or dirty so easily. The ones from the East will be different from the ones made in town and quite unique, I think. I am hoping to give them out to the children in the Alley during Yule. I hope you agree with me that this would be a splendid idea!
