Failed intimidation

Orlenne sits in her chair, a smug smile on her face as she writes the next entry, the quill scratching over the paper

Well, I think I showed what I am made of today. I had met up with Eoryn and we had just sat down at table with a fine-looking man who introduced himself as Captain Adathrond Arheston. We were just getting acquainted when that nasty man who Blodwynn had talked to the other day came and leaned, or should I rather say lurked, against a pillar just behind Captain Arheston. He started to stare most menacingly at Eoryn, who didn't know where to look the poor dear. Nearly spilled her milk. I tried to just ignore him, but Eoryn was getting more and more upset, up to the point that she decided to go home. I said I would accompany her and we took our leave of Captain Arheston.

We walked through Breetown with no incident until we left the South Gate on our way to her home. We had not gone far before that man suddenly stepped out in front of us, demanding a toll of thirty silvers for the use of the road. Thirty silvers! He must be insane to believe a child like Eoryn would have such money about her person. I did have that amount on me but I wasn't about to let him know that. I put my hand in my pocket, just to be sure I hadn't forgotten my scissors and got a good grip on them. If he was going to play dirty, I wasn't about to go down without a fight. Though I hoped Eoryn would be able to get away. But it never came to that. Eoryn found out that she had lost or forgotten her doorkey. So we had to return the way we came. The man threatened us a couple of more times, trying to stand in our way, but we just walked around him. We headed back to Bree, my back was ramrod straight. Fear is no longer an emotion I can feel it seems. I wonder if this is a good or bad thing. As we walked back towards Bree the nasty man let out a huge great laugh. It sounded almost merry though I believe he was trying one last time to frighten us. Eoryn was trembling like a leaf. We got back to the Pony and I put her to bed in my room. I can sleep on the floor, it won't be a problem.

Orlenne picks up the candle from the table and looks over to the sleeping Eoryn for a moment. She then lays the candle and herself on the floor before blowing the candle out and trying to get comfortable.
