The great Doriath, kingdom of the grey elves, was in ruin. The Feanorian Noldor came, reclaiming what they thought was theirs. Easy it was for them to reclaim a silmarils from their lesser kinsmen. Afraid they were to go and claim it from the crown of Morgoth... While a mortal man did it out of love, to obtain a far greater jewel.
After the the death of High King Thingol, Doriath was not like it was in its days of glory, the great captains were gone, the girdle was no more. Yet the fair Dior, came to it and wanted to restore it's splendor. But against those who have seen the light of Aman, what hope is there?
Slain now was Dior Eluchil, and besides him lay his beloved wife, kinswoman of Celeborn. But Dior has himself slain the most cruel of the sons: Celegrom. And two others of the sons of Feanor were slain by the Sindar. The evil and cruel servants of Celegrom, captured the young sons of Dior and left them to die in the forests. And the doom of Mandos was great on the sons of Feanor and their followers, for they acted like the filth of Morgoth...
Telvon was a Knight of Dior Eluchil, and many invading Noldor were slain by his swords. But more sindar were slain than noldor, for the sindar were folks of peace, and even the warriors did not match the skills of the Noldor. But he survived the masacre... He fled from Menegorth, not in shame, for he knew that there was little hope left and wished to find surviors. He went to the North: to his beloved forest of Neldoreth. There he, the remaining Knights and the marchwardens of the borders gathered what wounded they had, and wished to leave the most beloved woods to the refuge of Sirion.
Yet Telvon's heart thought otherwise, he stayed. For he found not his parents, and few of his friends.... He took his grey horse and rode back to the ruins of Menegroth. Not all Noldor yet departed, few remained. He did not come for vengeance, yet it was also on his mind. Being a marchwarden of the borders once, and the friend of the Laiquendi: he knew much of stealth. Stealth that not even the eyes of the Noldor could pierce through. He came to the Library of Menegroth, he thought he might find his parents there, for his father was a scribe and often was at the library studying the ancient Telerin and Eldarin tongues and other things.
He found his father, slain. He lay on the ground with no weapon besides him (for he was no warrior). Clearly his spirit has departed from his body,Telvon thought in tears. He now wished to find his mother. But in the next room he found a wounded Noldo, a captain it seamed, on his hauberk the silver star of Feanor could be seen, and not far he found his shiny dark haired mother among other slain Sindar.
Telvon went swiftly to the Noldo. And unsheathed one of his swords, pointing at the Noldo. For a moment there was silence in these halls once filled with the song of birds. Then the Noldo spoke: "Slay me kinsman, for my deeds are evil and no pardon should I ever receive." Telvon eyed the Noldor. But at the same time he looked at his silver blade, and in his blade he saw strange things...
A grey sky, the color of his eyes, clouds and thunder! A voice event came out of the blade (at least it seamed to him so). A voice that was familiar, yet Lordly: "Thou shallt not slay thee kindred, unarmed and wounded. For what thou seekest is only vengeance, if thou dost the curse of the Noldor shall embrace thee aswell." Wonder came into Telvon's mind, who spoke to him?
He eyed once more the Noldor that awaited his judgment and was ready to face Lord Mandos... Yet Telvon was no longer pointing his sword at him. And the Noldo looked at Telvon in wonder and fear. Not far from the Noldo was his spear, he could seise it and throw it on the Sinda, but he was no coward so he did not.
Telvon turned his back to him, took the flower circlet of his mother and the ring of his father then left the Halls of Menegroth. But this time he did not use stealth, but walked tall and silver radiance could almost be seen from him. And the few Noldo that remained in Menegroth and saw him, did not try to stop him, for they were in wonder. They looked at the silver knight, and took him as one of the Maia (or Valar even!).
And this day the prophecy and the future that his mother saw when giving birth to him, finaly came to pass. For she called him Telvon, "The Silver One" in the tongue of her kin (the Mithrim). She saw that one day her son will walk with the grace of the Ainur and that he shall shine with silver.
Notes:
1.The voice of the lord: Telvon does not know who spoke to him. Perhaps Mandos or one of his maia or Manwe or even Eru Iluvatar. Or maybe his father from the halls of Mandos.
2. Walked like a Maia/Vala. It only seamed to others this way. he just walked from Doriath without fear or caution.
3.The Silver one: The mother name of the character (Telvon) in Mithriem the tongue of Sindar of North Beleriand (she was of this kin). It is said that the Elf Mother (sometimes) can see the future of her child and give the child a name that speaks of what she saw.
