On my way to the Prancing Pony today, I happened upon the sight of the fugitive Stoneheart standing by the fountain on the square there in bright daylight, talking to an unidentified woman. I approached him cautiously, with my sword drawn and demanded of him to comply and accompany me to the jail. He refused to obey the order and drew his sword in return. After several attempts of persuading him to give himself up, I engaged him in combat in order to prevent him from getting away. I managed to wound him several times before our most recent recruit Daxtonvar approached the fight and, to my surprise, attacked me in defense of Stoneheart, causing significant injury to my left arm with his axe while calling me a traitor. The recruit was then interrupted by onlookers, who tried to pull him back from the fight. Mad with their disruption, he swung his axe at them in return, but failed to hit any of them.
To prevent further harm from coming upon the onlookers, I turned my attention to the recruit and disarmed him with an attack from behind. The recruit in question has been arrested and brought to the jail. Stoneheart managed to escape thanks to the help of the recruit and remains on the run. While everyone should still exercise caution, the injuries Stoneheart sustained will serve to weaken his already battered condition and allow us to arrest him without killing him should another watcher happen upon him in the near future.
The statements of two witnesses are at the jail. Another woman may come in to give hers in the coming days. We should keep eyes on the healers in town, as Stoneheart may seek out one of them to prevent his wounds from becoming infected. The recruit injured me in my left arm during the combat, so I will have to see a healer soon and likely spend some time at home to recover from the wound.
