Cedwyn smiled as she watched Rick pull on his work gloves and head outside to tend to their horses Jet and Sandy. Both horses would need to be well fed and watered so they'd be ready for the journey ahead. Rick would check their hooves and horseshoes and make sure that they were in good shape with little chance of becoming lame. Both were trusty steeds and Jet had recently returned from a trip, with Rick, in strong form.
As she heard the front door to the house close, Cedwyn looked down at her kitchen table and the array of foodstuffs to pack. She had spent the early morning baking some bread rolls and fruit muffins and just collected some cured ham and a few jars of pickled vegetables, from the pantry, to add to the inventory.
Carefully, she wrapped the items in cloth and placed them into a nearby saddle bag that would later be strapped to Sandy. Cedwyn was looking forward to spending time away from the farm with Rick and seeing some new sights on their journey.
Picking up a small cloth sack, Cedwyn returned to the pantry to fill the sack with some carrots, potatoes and onions. Then, reaching up to a shelf, Cedwyn lifted down a fine strong cheese, all ready wrapped in cloth.
Moving back to the kitchen, Cedwyn slipped the sack and cheese into the saddle bag.
"Now, I better fetch the pack of clothes from upstairs," she thought.
