Cassie Girl

"Oy! Cassie girl.  Where did ye' put my collection of books?"  the thirteen year old Cassie sheepishly walked over to her Father.  "Under my bed."  Lenny sighed but the same affectionate smirk curled along his bearded lips. "Under yer' bed? Listen darlin' pick  four out of the stack of fifteen an' give the rest t' me.  I need somethin' t' read before I sleep for heaven knows long.  I ain't ever been a heavy sleeper." Cassie smiled again "It's alright Papa, I'll just take one instead."  Walking into her bedroom she reached down and pulled the stack of books out and quickly took one off the top.   She then slid it over towards her Papa's feet.  Lenny raised a brow "Picked one up kind of quick didn't ya'? Hopefully tha' ain't a book that'll poison my girl's mind.  Let me see what ye' picked Cassie."  Cassiah huffed and her shoulders slumped, submitting the book to her Father's calloused hands.  The old blacksmith's eyes narrowed "The Maiden and the blade? Oy! Cassie ye' know I don' want ya' readin' about swords."  Cassie shook her head "It ain't like I'm goin' t' kill anyone Pa!" Fading back into her Bree-landers drawl.  Lenny's eyes suddenly grew cold and hard "It ain't about killin' anyone, but killin' yerself! Lasses like ya' ave' no place with blades!  There is women and then there is men!"   He kept the book in his hand and took the rest of the collection after leaving a very disappointed girl.
