Running into the darkness every single night…
Falling down into emptiness, waiting to crash every second…
Reiven opened her eyes knowing it was just another nightmare. She stayed still for a while waiting her heart to calm down and remembered the words of Karrade.
“Sing children songs, make your heart light... it won’t work forever... but it might buy you some time”
A bitter smile danced on her lips. “Might buy me sometime” she repeated his words while clambering out of the bed and wrapped a robe around her before leaving the room. She walked forth and back aimlessly as his words continues echoing in her mind.
“Your smell' he said “tainted...like a great many deaths hung on your hands, in the air surrounding you.”
“Tainted…” Reiven whispered into the darkness rubbing her bandaged wrist.
“Tainted… tainted…”
The voice echoing in her mind fall into a sudden silence as her elven eyes caught up by the brightness of dancing flames. She took a few steps and stopped at the entrance of the reading room where Fui was sleeping in front of the fire place. “So peaceful and pure like a little fairy” she thought “Yet…” Reiven bid her lips softly “Yet.. Her presence once brought me a little bit of ease seemed not amount to much anymore…”
“Bruiseweed....” Karrades’ voice whispered in her mind once more “It grows in the North Downs.... pick all the leaves from one bush, crush them with a little water into a thick paste and apply it to your ... bruise ... If your skin turns purple.. it’s just a bruise..... if it burns”
“if it burns?” Reiven asked as her voices fades
“Then keep it hidden... hidden from the light, hidden from everyone else. .. If it burns, seek help... from one stronger than I…”
Reiven watched him taking a few step back while studying her like studying a stranger and saw how his right hand rests still on his swords’ hilt… The moonlight glint softly on the head of a spiked arrow head which he holds hidden it’s body by his forearm.
Fuis’ soft voice bestrew the shades of her memories “Riven..good..?”
Reiven just looked her and nodded slightly “Sleep my dear.. I’m fine..”. In return Fui granted her a warm smile before goes back to her sleep. Reiven gave herself a few moments to memorize her sleeping image before the fire and kept all the details with care…
When the first rays of sun reaches onto the ground she has already set off on her journey and left the lands once she called home…
