Dearest father,
I am glad to hear that the business fares well without me. Who did you hire in my stead? I recall Aestor was quite competent for all his inexperience. I know that you favoured Laslyn, but whilst she may have a very pretty face, she has no head for numbers. Perhaps Inaera? She has great potential. Please do not turn your books over to Mister Morlan. That man is not to be trusted!
I am settling quite well here in Bree. Mister Keighley has been kind enough to secure for me a rent-free residence for the time being. It belongs to a friend of his who has gone out of town for the foreseeable future - a year at least, I am told. It is my hope that, by the time of the owners return, I'll have enough saved to purchase a home of my own. They are humble abodes, but none the less charming for it,
Sadly, my optimism concerning jobs has taken somewhat of a set-back. Mister Seaver required me to sign a contract pledging my services to him exclusively. You did not raise a lazy daughter, dear father, and my ambitions do not allow for me to hold myself to only one employer. How can I build a reputable book keeping service if I restrict myself to only one set of books? Unfortunately, I felt the need to turn him down, even if his offer of remuneration was rather attractive. Another consideration was my unwillingness to sever professional ties with Roclin. He pays considerably less than Mister Seaver, certainly, but he has aided me and my efforts from our first meeting, plus his charitable works are most noble. He is the sort of employer I prize above others.
Tell me more of Amedorn. Has he yet found a more permanent posting? And what of his new family? I've heard so little as of yet.
All my love,
Belethanor.
