Into the Stonedeans

Found:

A beardy, condescending man - how very shocking.

Oh, Rohan, land of horses, bane of my existence, you never fail to disappoint even my low expectations!

I'd barely made it a handful of miles through the Westfold before I ran into a fur-faced man atop his darling steed. Although this one was, surprisingly, being led by dogs. Four-footed, furry, easier to train and won't need a step-ladder to get into if a man gets lonely. Hmm. It's now much less shocking, but I fear I'll need to scrub my brain clean before I sleep tonight. Ugh!

Anyway, typical of his kind, he sees a woman alone in the woods and starts warning her all about the big bad nasty things that might look at her funny if she doesn't go back to the roads. Truly, what would I ever do without a big, strong man to guide my dainty steps? Why, I'd break a nail! And, of course, he had the temerity to frown his disapproval for my lack of breathless thanks and request for directions to the nearest dress maker. Bah!

Pretty enough though, I suppose. And admittedly the road is becoming quite lonely. I'm not likely to see him again or else I might consider the possibility of one last fling before the end, even if it is with one of them.

Ah well.

On I traveled into the Stonedeans. It's looking a little battered. One or two of the outlying homesteads seems to have been taken by fire in recent months. Unfortunate for the inhabitants but it does mean that the locals are more likely to be distracted, making it easier for me to go unremarked.

That is the one upside of this land. It has such wide open spaces that people are usually quite easy to avoid.
