1. Thunderlights

It was a long day for Gromac, he had walked all the way to the Brockenborings to find a merchant to buy a sack of seeds and now he was returning, he was looking forward to have his tea and warm meal to fill his belly and get in bed, another long day was waiting for him. But the Golden Perch in Stock would be his first stop for a warm mushroom soup with tea, before his own tea and dinner at home. The next morning he'd be busy, having to sow his fields and make sure that he ripped off completely any unwanted weed.
He was dragging his feet boredly, having the sack on his back, the seeds were light, so it wasn't that much of a burden for him, despite having to walk all the way from the Brockenborings to Stock. The feeling of the wind was pleasantly hitting his face, being warmed by the sun that was ready to set. The Hobbit stopped for a moment to switch the sack from one shoulder to the other and took the opportunity to water his  throat with some water from the skin on his side. His legs had brought him to the Bridgefields and on his left was the forest, quiet and scary as the dark started to cover the land more and more.
An owl startled him and he ran fast and stopped behind a big boulder, taking deep breaths, his head came from behind it to look around and seeing nothing he threw the sack on his back again and went on his way. No more than twenty or twenty five steps further, something caught his attention and he raised his head, it was a sound, no Hobbit, nor man, nor an animal could make such a sound, it was something rushing, towards him! The closer it drew the stronger the sound was becoming. Gromac dropped his sack and made to run towards the trees to hide but he turned back to grab it, having spent a little more six silver coins, it wasn't an amount to be taken lightly! He grabbed the sack and threw it between the trees, then run towards them as well and hid between the leaves and branches.
Whatever it was was coming closer fast and Gromac, curious as he was leaned forward to see better, all he could see was two flickering lights coming his way on the road in great speed, he pulled his head back and hid, breathless! The sound became a thunder as it passed in front of him in great speed, sounding as if thousands of feet were running and his eyes caught a glimpse of the lights, almost blinding him with their speed in the darkness. Afraid that they would see him he lied down on the ground and waited for the sound to stop, trembling! Luckily for him the thing disappeared as fast as it appeared and after some brief moments everything was quiet again. Gromac grabbed his sack and ran as fast as he could to Stock, he didn't notice that the gate was empty of the Bounders as he ran South. He passed throught Budgeford, not noticing where he was and went on to cross the water, being in such a hurry and having the bag on his back he  strumbled and fell in the water.
With half the seeds destroyed and soaked to the bone the Hobbit realised where he was and turned around towards the village, he run up to the first building that caught his eye, a big one, the Merchat Hall from what it seemed. He almost fell on the door and started banging on it with force.
-Went for a late swim Mr Paddyfeet? came the voice of a woman from a house across the street. Gromac turned to look at her and the moment he did the door of the building opened and his right punch landed on the merchant that opened the door. She looked at his hand, he  turned to see what happened but before managing it a slap landed on his face, he winced in pain but it help him snap out of his fear!
-Can I enter? I need help! he said and the woman didn't think about it, she made room for him and he ran inside, dropped the bag on the floor and sat next to it, resting his head on his fist. The Hobbits around gathered and looked at him trying to see what happened, he didn't seem to be injured, nor sick.
-What happened Mr Paddyfeet? said the esldest of the bystanders, Gromac looked up to him, still panting and spoke.
-Did you see it? I was coming here, those Thunderlights. The Hobbits looked at each other, half concerned and half perplexed and the elder spoke again.
-What Thunderlight? What is a thunderlight?
-I don't know, I was coming back from Brockeborings when the earth shook and it came... I hid in the trees and heard all the noise and saw the lights, loud as a thunder!

A cup of water was given to him and he drank, being thirsty from all the running, his gaze fell on the wet bag and another sigh escaped his lips, for fear of the saved seeds not being enough for his field. The other Hobbits moved a cough in front of  the fireplace and let him sleep there, he was quite shaken from what he saw, despite not knowing what it was...
