Gilith was on patrol in the Golden Wood when one of Lady Galadriel's messengers came to find her. " Commander, the Lord and Lady wish to see you." he reported. Gilith thanked the elf before turning to find her horse and ride to Caras Galadhon. She bowed respectfully as she entered the the room "Ah, Commander Gilith," Lord Celeborn said. "I know you were busy on your patrol, but we have an errand for you. You are to travel to Ricendell, there is to be a council there headed by Lord Elrond, and I trust you to go in our stead." Gilith bowed her head.
"When shall I leave?" she asked
"Lord Elrond has requested that all invited parties are to meet as quickly as they can, therefore you will leave this eve." Lady Galadriel said. Gilith bowed once more, before turning and walking towards her home, where she filled her saddle bags and collected some extra arrows and spare string for the bow.
Gilith set off that evening with few of her warriors, taking the quicker, but more dangerous route across the mountain pass. They traveled unseen for a week, but along the way they took notice of several orc camps in Eregion and as far as the outskirts of the Trollshaws. Gilith knew that once there, the route was fairly safe. She urged her horse forward, overtaking the others, hearing the whispers that followed her. "What do you think this council is about, Commander?" an elf asked as their horse trotted side by side.
"I do not know, but a great darkness is coming upon our land, I feel it may be something to do with that." She replied. The elf nodded. Gilith had felt the darkness, and was worried about it. The following day at sunset they arrived to to the hidden valley. The Elves of Lothlorien continued down the path, which soon became so narrow in some parts that they had to dismount and walk to be able to advance.
Eventually they reached the end of the road, which opened out near a small trickle of water onto a smooth path that overlooked the great valley riven by a great river far below. One the far side of Rivendell the light of the sun gleamed and glittered upon cascading silver falls and the elegantly shaped buildings and halls built amongst them, surrounded by many trees.
