Hope’s in the Mail (A Community-Decided Roleplay Outcome)

in

Heavy footfalls from large, booted feet thump on the cool stone flooring as a tall, stocky man in a floppy hat opened the door to the Bree Town Hall and made his way across the floor to the nearby clerk. Reaching the oak counter, one of his beefy hands extends to rest against its smooth, worn surface while the other holds out an addressed envelope. The man breaks into a warm grin before speaking in his Breeish twang.

“Good morn, need to put this here letter in the post. How much a stamp go for these days?”

The clerk, thinking nothing extraordinary of the exchange so far, answers him in a weary, monotone voice and accepts the man’s coin with hardly a glance. The big man pauses slightly to look down at his envelope one last time before he sets it down on the counter and slides it across to the clerk. Then he tips his hat and leaves.

Minutes later, clerk finishes filling out the form he had been working on before being interrupted, and then idly inspects the envelope the man left behind. A thick, bushy eyebrow raises in consternation.

The Envelope

OOC:

This is only to determine if the letter is delivered or not to the player & character of Ekoko; she is completely free to do with it what she will in roleplay, up to and including ripping it up unopened should it arrive.

The link is to a Googledocs survey. Absolutely no email or personal information is required or recorded on my end.

The TL;DR version for those who have no interest in catching up with old posts:

Backwards Bree-lander meets Lothlórien elf on the road by chance and is impressed by her.

Runs into same elf some time later, at an inn. They share drinks and part.

Again runs into the elf by a pond outside of town, as he is a fisherman. Invites her over for a home-cooked meal since she's traveling.

Elf takes him up on the offer of dinner. While he hosts, she asks him for help, as she needs a guide to locate particular places in Bree-land and she is unfamiliar with the land. He agrees.

They spend about a week traveling together to all the places she needs to go. Backwards Bree-lander is haplessly interested in her because she is the most beautiful lady he's ever seen. Her mannerisms are cool and detached for the most part.

Backwards Bree-lander, while well-meaning, uses terrible logic, manages to deeply offend the elf at the end of their journey. They part poorly. She sent him a passive-aggressive letter which only salted the wound.

Neither Bernie the character nor his player have any idea why the elf in question needed to traverse Bree-land. That is for the player of Ekoko to divulge, or not.

OOC note to Ekoko

Here's that curveball I warned you of. My mistake was in telling you. I know you'd never have left it alone over the weekend. ;)
