The Beggar's Alley and Stone Quarter brimmed with life as final preparations were being made for the festival that would be held today. People were setting up tables, finishing setting up the decorations and merchants putting up their stalls and lining them with small treats, trinkets, simple clothing and a few lining up vegetables that their harvest had brought this year.
Alright, everything is going well. We are still on time! Wait...What is he doing with that scarecrow. No, no, it's not supposed to be there!
The man rushed over to guide the young man to were to put the scarecrow, aiding in moving the odd thing around till it stood in the right place.
There, much better.
He hurried up down the street and glanced into the Beggar's Alley, nodding to himself as tables from the houses around were being donated to use for the day's event. On it he hoped that a great feast could be prepared for people to enjoy without spending a coin, it would not be fancy and most of it would be leftovers that people were able to give up along with some stale bread and pastries from the bakers around. All was coming together bit by bit.
Good, good. The kegs are up as well. Thank the heavens that people were kind enough to offer up some coin to aid with this! Would have been terrible if we'd be without drinks as well or need to buy them. I shall have to make certain to thank these folk later for their contribution. Now what of games? I will have to think of something.
He looked around the street and smiled as children had already dressed themselves in curious costumes for the festival, laughing as they ran around, studying the grounds and staring towards the odd treats here and there that vendors were putting out.
Perhaps we could find some award for the best costume? Not a bad idea but what could I possibly find? I'll have to figure something out for now... Ack! No, no!
He rushed off again to offer his aid as one of the large kegs seemed wobbly on the base it stood on, the three quick to find a way to stable it so it would not go tumbling and crush anyone during the festivities.
I shall have to hope Haritha is able to show up, else this might all have been for nothing! Well not nothing but... It was good to speak with her last night, took some of the stress away. A pity she tells me that Leoffrith refuses to attend. Petty? Bitter? Or just not a man able to enjoy such an event? Who knows. It is not my problem. If the man refuses to join in the merriment that is his choice.
He stopped for a breath and dragged his hand down his face, looking around after to make certain all was still moving as it should.
I will never understand how father managed to do such things without breaking a sweat. Then again he did have the family to help. I only have my brother... Speaking of. Where the heck is he!?
