So, I'm back where I started, more or less, although not in the condition I started in.
I found the water source again, a wide but shallow pool of what I assume is collected rainwater considering the lack of any visible streams, to be crawling with hostile critters. I could have moved on, of course, but I couldn't be sure when or where I'd find another so I opted to wait. Sadly, my plan to simply lie low and out of the way until it was safe didn't work out too well as a random warg got the drop on me. I fended the creature off as best I could. It's really rather dead, and reeks worse than any wet dog ever could, but my victory in this was not without a price. I am now the not-so-proud bearer of some extraneous thigh holes and some rather fetching claw marks along my left arm and side.
This is not a good day.
So, even more covered in mud and blood than I was before, I'm now at risk of rabies or whatever other afflictions these sons of bitches spread. Is a female warg also known as a bitch? They're canine enough to be called similar, surely?
Regardless, I've no supplies to stitch myself back together again, nothing to bind my wounds... so goodbye my beautiful blue shirt! I had to tear it up for use as bandages. Lacking a blouse beneath my bodice and coat now, I'm colder than before but at least I'm not leaking red trails behind me! Probably. I damn well hope not anyway!
Things are beginning to look a little bleak, but I've been in worse scrapes, haven't I? I'm sure I have. There was that time in Rohan when the tunnel collapsed behind me. Or the time in Gondor when the ruins came down about my ears. Or that time in Umbar... although, as I recall, that one turned out to be highly entertaining in the end. No matter! I just have to remember that I've done more with less and, alike the times before, I can and will find my way out of this.
Keep smiling, Silver. Keep going. Don't stop. Don't look back.
Survive.
