Found
I'm back. For good or ill, I'm back.
Rhaug found me in Minas Vrun, taking shelter beneath an archway. He insisted on lending his cloak to keep me warm and, to my surprise, he even managed to speak more than two words to me! Indeed, he was almost chatty. Far more than he has been in the last dozen or so meetings we've had. Unfortunately, what he had to say didn't fill me with much confidence, though of course I tried not to show it. By his estimation, I've lost more than a month of memory. Maybe two. Where did it go and why?
He carried me back come morning, bundled up and cradled in his arms like a child! It was ridiculous and not entirely necessary, but it did save us a lot of time. I can't say I didn't enjoy it though!
He left me with the healer with instruction to have my head checked for any trauma. I didn't tell him that I had planned to do just that anyway, to have my ear looked at. I didn't want him to know about that. He doesn't need to know. No one does.
I left the healers hut some hours later with several jars of ointment, a few rolls of bandage, a rather long and boring set of instructions about what to do next and a promise that one of them will be down to check on me in a few days. Joy.
Naturally, I passed by the stables and, to my delight, Steel was there waiting! He was as happy to see me as I was to see him, although I couldn't stay as long as I might have liked. I'll be back up that hill to check on him further just as soon as my leg allows!
In the meantime, I'm sat back in that tiny little hut waiting on one of the locals to drop by with some much needed supplies. I could really do with a proper meal. And a proper wash. And a change of clothes. And some answers.
One thing at a time, Silver.
I still have Rowan's cloak. I should probably wash that too.
