The Ring-Lore Quest, Entry 8: Taking Precautions

I buried the filled bag of gold from Durthang a few paces away from the cart outside the ruined gate of the Morannon just in case someone would discover the cart in my absence and run off with it. I don't like leaving treasure behind, so I cast some spells over it to make sure it would remain undiscovered until my return. I never truly believed in these spells, nor in runes of power, but dire situations call for dire measures and if the words I spoke help only in the smallest of measures, then I will still utter them. Too much is at stake here, for there is no greater disgrace than to return empty-handed. Nyr the Great Adventurer, the Finder of Treasure, will not return empty-handed!

I sent my raven off with a message to my king as he requested I'd do. Not the brightest of its kind. Surely no raven of Ravenhill. I hope it will find its way back for it are many miles back home and it will take many days before it reaches the king.

I stayed the night here and took fresh provisions from the cart for my next venture into Udûn. I believe now the time has come to grow a little bolder still and go further into Mordor. I will steer left of the fire mountain, straight east, to the place where once was the tower of the dark lord. If there are secrets to be uncovered surely the dark lord's own keep must hold them - if they have not been destroyed with him.

May Mahal guide me.
