Adya's 1st scribble

Adya is worried. So very worried. She's not getting jobs anymore; no more gigs. And no more gigs means no more food and too much time to spend fretting and worrying.  So she started drawing. Just random scribbles of what she was looking at. Turning into words and feelings and phrases and finally into full sentences.  She found that this took much of that extra time she was burdened with and puts more work into forming paragraphs and stories!  Now, she has hopes she can be an author as a backup to her entertainment career!  Her first 'scribble' lies below:

Wyvin looked around at his brothers and sisters and chortled.  "This will be so easy!" he thought.  He peered at his competition, his siblings.  His eldest brother could barely stand up straight and Wyvin did not hold back his laughter after seeing him fall over for the fifth time.  He snorted as he realized that none of his other brothers were doing any better.  He turned his attention to his sisters in contemplation.  "They are cuter," he mused.  "No matter, I can be cuter than they!" he yelped aloud and proceeded to show how cute he was.  He noticed with glee that he was looked at and pointed at more often than his siblings.  Eyes tracked him wherever he traipsed around.  Laughter and "aww"s followed him whenever he did something cute.  And cute things he did!  He launched at imaginary enemies.  He rolled around on the floor.  He made eye contact with his audience and ran back and forth fruitlessly attempting to reach them.

A passing aroma slithered past Wyvin's nose that reminded him of Mom.  He looked around wildly for her, but not knowing what she looked like, his gaze traveled from face to face and his nose from scent to scent with neither finding recognition.

“If only Mom could see me now...” Wyvin thought.  “She wouldn't have left me, I know it.” He paused for a moment to remember his mother; her softness, her essence, her safe presence, but... what is this?  Only a younger sister and he were left.  The younger sister who had been sleeping the whole time!  He was her equal?  His other siblings were better than he was?  He collapsed, defeated.  His audience, disappointed by his inertia, dispersed.  He decided his slumbering sister was right and he laid down attempting to fall asleep.

A quick blur of color caught his eye and he looked over.  One group of his previous admirers, from early in the morning, had come back.  Two of them were the taller, quicker types and the third was as active as he; well, as he used to be.  He gazed at them with doleful eyes.  The shortest was cavorting about, apparently trying to get Wyvin to join in.  But Wyvin just sat, still lost in his depression.  The other two walked to where his master stood and entered into a heated argument.  Wyvin couldn't hear what they said, but heard loud, garbled speech which his master finally ended by shaking his head, stomping his foot and yelling "No."  The tall ones walked slowly back to stand in front of Wyvin, and told the smaller one something who then started wailing and shrieking.

A thought came slowly to Wyvin's mind.  The master had prepped him and his siblings last night saying that today was the most important day of our lives.  That we had to strut our stuff and try to get picked.  That being picked was the best compliment we could get and it would mean better lives, better food and more room to run.  He winked at me when he said that, and whispered that he knew who was best.  The tall ones only spoke to the master when they were making a pick. So, those tall ones must have wanted HIM but the master said no.  He knew he heard the master's “No”.

Did the master pick him?  Is that why he hadn't been chosen yet?  He stood up straight.  The master wanted him!  He jumped around for joy!  The tall ones stopped arguing and watched him.  He didn't care that they were sad; he was happy!  He was wanted!  He glanced at his master who had a huge smile on his face and yipped. He looked back at the tall ones and they were smiling at him too.  Of course they were!  Who wouldn't smile in the face of such love!  He ran about the small enclosure into the glass walls, stumbling over his sister multiple times and vaguely heard the shorter one’s raucous laughter but he didn't notice the tall ones go back to the master.

He was forcibly plucked out of his joyous reverie by the master who unceremoniously plunked him into a tiny box.  He cried happily.  He was chosen!  He wasn't picked first, but he was picked by the best!  He wagged his tail enthusiastically thumping the side the small box.  He lost his balance and yipped in alarm as his tiny box was handed to someone.

"I wasn't sure about double the price when we came back, but I am convinced now.  He's a one of a kind pup!”
