Today was going to be a boring day, but shockingly, father decided to take us out boar-hunting, Burgwyn stayed with mother, while Sigehelm came with us. Sigehelm often used a axe rather than a spear in close-combat, while I, always chose a spear over an axe. Mother suggested that we should camp for the night, so she nagged on about how we would need the proper supplies, which we did, of course. I loved camping, father would take us to the riverbank for our water, fish, and everything. It was just the thrill of it that intrigued me. Brother started to brag about his skill in handling an axe, how he could throw it, slash someone or something with it, and anything he could think. He went on and on for hours, thank Bema that he stopped when we had arrived at the location father chosen. Spring air flew throughout the forest, the sun weaved through the branches and the trees. Birds chirped a pleasant song and creatures scuttered along the grass and roots. The tent was set up rather quickly, and father got me to collect fuel for the fire. My spear was sharp, and I was still somewhat afraid of the woods, rather what lurks in them. These woods were plenty with deadwood and fallen branches, so much so that I couldn't collect them all, but I came back with enough to last us for a day or two. Sigehelm rolled his eyes at me, since he had to help father with unpacking our supplies. Soon after unpacking our supplies and starting a campfire, Sigehelm and I were sent off to collect some dinner, fish. Brother was always jealous of me being the favorite son, so much so, that he would attempt to spread lies among our friends and even family-members, attempting to slander my reputation as being a good son. We argued when we were attempting to fish, even messing with the fish we caught.
"You're lucky that father likes you the most, if he didn't, then uncle wouldn't take you out for training and would focus more on me," He smirked, laughing at me. His smirk was one of a betraying kind, devious and manipulating. He was very good at coming up with believable lies, but for my luck, mother and father didn't believe them most of the time. I didn't quite trust my brother to aid with a task assigned to me by father, or anyone for that matter, as he would attempt to confuse the truth with a lie he made up. "Well, guess that isn't the case, so, good luck with that. I may be the favorite son, but at least you get the easy things, father always gives me the tasks that are harder, most of the time, at least. I train more often than you two, I mean, I like it that way, but still. You should be grateful," I said angry and somewhat confused, I didn't understand what he meant when we argued, but I understood well enough upon what he meant. We caught several fish, I didn't dare to attempt to identify them, Sigehelm was good at fishing, not me. However, I did manage to catch one less than him, good enough I would say. Though, the fish I had caught were quite smaller than his. Father was proud, or attempted to show it, for the both of us. I watched the river go on and on while dinner was cooking. The smell of the forest was relaxing, it made you listen and sense the elements of nature more than you would in a busy market. Father and Sigehelm were bantering on and on, however I did not pay attention to them, I was still gazing at the river, listening to the birds chirp.
Dinner was served and we quickly dug in, eating politely, but still quickly until we had finished it. Father reassured us that we would go to sleep soon, and head back tomorrow morning. The tent was large, cozy, and warm. Our spears were laid upon the poles of the tent, so that we could have quick access to them if we needed to. Nothing interrupted our sleep, dreams filled our head with feasts in Meduseld. It was a good sleep, better than Warg filled forest chase nightmares. "You both did well boys, but the last thing we are going to do is bring back today's dinner for mother and it will be boar. A final challenge, so to speak. There are some boar lurking about here, and I've singled off some, three, one for the each of us. So, we are going to find them, kill them, and bring their meat back to Mother, so that she can have a easy day making dinner." Father smirked, proclaiming almost a challenge, he even said it was a challenge, but I knew better, this was another test, a test to see if we were ready, and we were. We found the boars outside the forest, we had dispatched them quickly, they seemed not to be full-grown, but still grown enough for good meat. So, with ease, father had collected what he needed for the dinner and we departed, leaving the corpses for carrion. It was about a hour until dinner when we had came back home, Sigehelm was complaining more than he had when we were on the way to our campsite. Burgwyn was happy to see me as ever, but joked about that Sigehelm should've lost to the waters and the boars. She was never serious, unless roused to anger, and quite often made jokes that made Sigehelm angry, or someone chuckle. We ate dinner and I had went to sleep early, I was tired, and I had a big day ahead of me.
