Two black eyes peered through the light foliage in the early morning twilight. A body slumbered not far ahead, with yellow fur covering only the tops of its head and feet. Roughly half as large as many that walked upright, it would appear almost peaceful if not for the sharp, pointed objects at its side, no doubt used for piercing and stabbing. Despite any potential danger, breakfast drew in those two black eyes.
Two keen ears picked up every sound in the forest. A light breeze tickled the tree tops far above, a winged creature beat a nut against a rock somewhere behind, and a low hum--almost a purr--escaped the figure ahead as its chest rose and fell. And yet even with the air so still at the forest floor, no sound of alarm reached those two keen ears.
Two hungry nostrils searched the chill air. Morning dew dampened not only every surface, but every scent. Yet a most succulent smell from the direction of the sleeping form wafted into those two hungry nostrils.
Two rear legs leapt into motion. With a flash of brown fur, the short distance between the foliage and the slumbering body was closed nearly instantly by those two rear legs.

One sleepy hobbit awoke from a peaceful rest to a sudden feeling on his neck. The feeling was wet, cold, and fuzzy. Alarmed, Dogward rotated his head to see the dew-dampened coney hop away a few paces before turning to look back at him, his two black eyes watching, his two keen ears twitching, his two hungry nostrils quivering, and his two rear legs stiffening. "Well, hullo there little friend." Sitting up and letting out a giant-sized yawn, he looked down upon the partially chewed blades of grass upon which he had slept. He had specifically picked this patch due to how soft the fresh shoots were. “It looks like I made my bed on your breakfast! I'd better leave you to it then.” Dogward quickly gathered his meager possessions, shouldered his pack, and strode off, humming a familiar tune. The coney returned to nibbling his now flattened breakfast, forgetting completely about the one sleepy hobbit.
