And so we kept fighting as we secured the gate against the attack and they reinforcements arrived as well. Many of the men were already tired by the fight but they kept fighting. Soon various locations around this side of the city were secured by us and the time has come to cross the Great Bridge. We fought them off and cleansed most of the city. Finally, our final destination was before them. The North Ithilien Gate - The place where our fates were about to be decided. Both armies started their movement. I looked at Barandur. "So... this is the time, my friend. We will reclaim Osgiliath once again and for good." - I said towards him and kept observing the orcs. He glanced at me and rested his hand on my shoulder that one last time. "If we split, take care..." - He whispered then moved away from me. I glanced at him and looked into his eyes, knowing that could be the last time I saw him, but deep in heart I was still believing that we will both come back victorious. "You too. We will meet again." - he replied then turned to the orcs as he ran into the heat of battle. I readied my weapons. "Here I come..." - I said to myself and charged towards the orcs. As I fought my voice kept sounding around. Barandur heard me as well and he smiled even in the face of certain doom. " Do not underestimate the power of the Gondor. Will you bring doom to your allies? You are powerless! You cannot hinder me!" - soldiers kept hearing my shouts towards the orcs then after killing another orc I stood upon the battlefield with the wind blowing through my helmet, with my sword raised and ready. I charged once again. "I will come for you now..." - I said in direction of the nearby enemies then continued my fighting. Another dose of my rallies reached others' ears. " Make them suffer, my allies!' Today we avenge our fallen kinsmen!" - I shouted and then a thought, a distant memory has struck my mind. My dead wife and son, just a month before their deaths, telling them to never give up and fight for those we love in the White City. I felt the sudden heat and felt like my energy was doubled. "For Gondor!" - I yelled and felt the courage of the nearby enemies crushed. I fought on, empowered by avenging my family. Then I avoided being hit by the battle-trolls mace and rolled to the ground with even more anger inside me. "You think you can match a Guardian?!" - I stood back up and charged towards the beast piercing it through with her greatsword. "You cannot match a Thanduil! You have no power over me!" - I yelled as it collapsed to my feet then reclaimed my sword from its corpse. My fury soon passed as I started to become weary from the fight but still stayed on my guard. We both still fought on until the numbers of the enemy has reduced. Both of us reunited as we moved back near the others. "Something is not right here.." - Barandur then said to himself and spotted that the flying beasts around are going back to the Vale. Another soldier looked at us as we approached. "Look, all of The Nazgul are retreating back to the Vale!" - He said not only to us, but to all of those who were still present. I looked into the distance. "What could this mean...?" - I kept wondering. Barandur moved then towards the edge of the hill to get a better view. "I am wondering what use they have for this minions back in Mo--" - he got interrupted as one of the returning beasts grabbed him and tossed down the hill.
I seemed frightened by that turn of events. "No!" - I yelled and ran in that direction, grabbing a bow of the fallen archer and starting to shoot towards the beast's head until it has retreated. Barandur was lying on the ground, feeling knocked out but with only minor wounds and after a moment he started to regain himself and then ignores the pain to come back to the heat of battle. "Are you alright my friend?" - he asked as if nothing has just happened. I looked at him in disbelief. "I am. I was only worried about you..." - I said looking at him. "I am alright, these wounds are nothing to me." - he said back before we once more returned to our positions and charged towards the enemies. As the last beasts vanished from sight The City was finally clear of enemies. I fell to my knees, the pain and battle exhaustion finally took over me, but with last of my strenght I yelled into the skies. "Victory! Victory is ours! I have avenged you, my dear wife..." - I finished my speaking with tears in my eyes. Finally, I felt fulfilled. Like my life goals were done. Like it was the end of my journey but then, I forced myself to stand up and after a while I was reunited with Barandur, as we stood on the field of glory. "This is the beginning of a new time..." - I said with a silent, exhausted voice.
We regrouped once more after a time and then, I have spotted a frightened scout approaching. Not long after I recognized Iarvenil in him. I moved closer to him, he was shaking and was really pale. "Iarvenil... what happened?" - I asked him calmly. He grabbed my arm with an abnormal strong grip. "They are coming..." - He said towards me and I just kept looking at him for a while. "Who? Where are Nethillon and Iarnuil?" - I asked with a signs of worry. He just shook his head before trying to answer but then the shriek interrupted us, followed by soldiers running to the city, or at least some of them. We haven't seen Iarnuil or Nethillon in that group. I have talked with Iarvenil for a bit more before we were forced to retreat.
