As he sifts through letters and notes from Daltor, Mortanas meets with two of the chosen individuals who are to take part in the journey to the north-east, while Lomiphell waits nearby for Azkas to come. There is Rathvald, a sellsword chosen for his basic useful skills... and Cherawyn – a young woman who has only barely begun her basic training – chosen for a far different reason.
