My Dear Maddoct,
As I am writing this, we have camped by a waterfall at the base of Weathertop. I took Blid and Arlis to the top, and they stayed for a while and I gave them their time, while Sedryn stayed at camp and watched the horses. The journey so far has been very uneventful, though Blid has latched onto the ghost story of the Forsaken Inn. They say that in caverns deep below the Inn, a Captain and his crew perished away due to an evil necklace that possessed the Captain. Blid is quite enraptured with the pirates, and has even created a pirate in his mind named Cinnamon Scarletbeard!
We will be leaving for Ost Guruth soon. The goblins have moved closer to Weathertop than I remember, which was troubling to me. However, I am sure that we will get to Ost Guruth with no problem, for I have never had a problem before. Thus far, we have not run into anything, though Arlis got annoyed with me for trying to frighten Blid in the Inn. I feel as if the tables have turned on me, and now it is Blid that teases me about Sedryn! Luckily, I am not as easily flustered as he is!
I suppose this will be sent once we get to Ost Guruth, so if you receive it, you may assume we have already reached it. But I suspect I will not have much time to sit down and write a letter once I get there, so I am writing now.
There is a very small little voice in the back of my mind that says I should ask Blid if I can go on the caravan with them. Whether or not they'd even take a Woman, I don't know. I can't leave Sedryn anyway, but it's just been an ever-present thought.
With much love,
Liffey
