My Dear Maddoct,
I write this from one of the rooms of the Forsaken Inn. Blid and his company left days ago, and Sedryn and I have only just gotten this far. I don’t mean to worry you, but I carry a letter for you from Blid’s brother, Seimurr, and I want to make sure that you get it in a reasonable amount of time.
Sedryn and I were attacked as we were approaching the Inn, so I think we’ll stay here for a bit. Though I wanted to follow your advice to the best I could, I decided that I couldn’t go with Blid the rest of the way. Maybe that was for the best because then Sedryn would’ve been alone when he headed back home. There is a woman with child and her husband who had been attacked before us, and she is so big I think she’s going to pop any day now. But I have a few broken ribs, and I am in no shape to leave right away. I think I’ll need to stay for just a bit longer.
Do not worry, as you are prone to do. I’ll be home soon enough to tease you about everything under the sun. Until then, I’ve included in the envelope the letter from Blid’s brother.
