Perhaps They're Right
Yurri sits alone in his room at The Prancing Pony tavern. He looks miserable and deflated, and stares out of his window, eyeing all the able bodied folk attending their business, as well they should. Still, bitterness stirs within the old dwarf as the perils of old age begin to creep up on him. His cane rests beside him, and he looks weary and worn.
Nevertheless, Yurri takes up his quill and traces it across the parchment set out on the table before him. In his misery, he decides to write himself a song. The lyrics of that song are as follows:
I don't want to feel like I'm not me.
Waiting for everyone else to finally cotton on and see.
That broken and useless - I ain't ever really free.
I don't want to feel like I'm not me...
Brawler and blighter - I'm no stranger to a fight.
But most think me a cliche, too far gone from the light.
Perhaps they're right. Perhaps they're right.
Ba da dum, ba da dum, bim bam ba da dum.
Perhaps they're right. Oh I ain't right, I ain't right, perhaps they're right...
It's not original to hate an elf, or go after treasure.
Kindness and honour - that's the way in which we measure
a dwarf; a good one, a proud one, pride set aside and never does he wallow.
But instead of healing my sorrows I drank away my tomorrows...
Legacy and friendship - that's what really matters.
But I've seen to it that what I leave will be in tatters.
I traded patience for insults, tolerance for pain - time well spent.
But when I look around, folk already came and went.
What's the point in living if you're completely spent?
Brawler and blighter - I'm no stranger to a fight.
But most think me a cliche, too far gone from the light.
Perhaps they're right. Perhaps they're right.
Ba da dum, ba da dum, bim bam ba da dum.
Perhaps they're right. Oh I ain't right, I ain't right, perhaps they're right.
