My quarry!
I have never had any skill at tracking people. Be it prints or broken branches, such a thing has ever been beyond me. Thus, knowing that the ones I sought were supposedly in a certain place, Steel and I left naught but dust and vexed midgets in our wake as we positively flew through the Land of Ankle Biters. I likely got some dirty looks as I thundered over the rooftops but, quite frankly, don't make your house look like an empty bloody field if you don't want people running about on top of it! Or eating the grass for that matter. Horses get hungry, for goodness sake.
Anyway, knowing my absolute lack of ability to hunt people, but knowing where said people were supposed to be, I made a point of getting there in all haste. We made good time, Steel and I, and happened upon the duo eating dinner at a campfire a few miles into Thrain's Court.
Jackilyn welcomed me, of course! Darling girl that she is. Atharann however was more wary of me than he has been in many a year. He worried, it seems, that I had either been sent there by Dimheim for some unknowable reason, or I had a wish to drag him into danger again. Of course, I was there for neither reason, but that didn't stop his suspicion... or his surprise when he saw the other name upon the contract I had bid him sign.
Oddly, although he has always been supportive of my end goal for the place, he was less than pleased to have to sign such a document. I find this strange considering it binds the agreement in law and makes it impossible for me, or anyone acting on my behalf, to wriggle out of. One would think that, out of us three, I would be the one more off-put by the legalities.
Oh well. It's done now. Everything is in order whether I die tonight or a hundred years hence. I can rest now, put that part out of my mind at least.
But since I'm already here...
